Just came back from Jumma prayer completely wet from sweating. The mosque was full, everyone trying to get inside the main hall because that’s where the AC was. Even inside, it was still so hot that I kept sweating non-stop.
First thing I did when I reached home? Turned on my AC full power.
But then I sat there thinking, what about the people who don’t have this choice?
The Reality Check:
While I’m sitting in my AC room getting cool, there are thousands of people out there who:
Work under the sun all day, builders, painters, people selling on streets
Go home to houses with no AC because they can’t buy it
Have kids who are suffering in this heat with no relief
Have ACs but can’t use them because electricity bills are too high
Are just trying to stay alive each day
A friend sent me a photo yesterday, DI Khan hit 52 degrees. FIFTY-TWO! Can you believe it?
If it’s this bad in DI Khan, what’s the temperature in Karachi, Hyderabad, or other cities?
Here’s What Nobody Wants to Say:
AC is no longer a luxury thing. It’s become something you need to survive.
When the temperature goes above 45-50 degrees, having an AC isn’t about being comfortable anymore, it’s about not dying from too much heat.
But our government still thinks it’s some expensive thing for rich people only. Meanwhile, families are suffering, kids are getting sick, and people are putting their lives at risk working outside.
The Biggest Problem, Electricity Bills:
You know what’s worse than not having an AC? Having one but being scared to use it because the electricity bill will destroy your budget.
Many families have ACs sitting in their rooms, but they only turn them on for 1-2 hours because they can’t afford the full bill. Imagine having the solution to survive but not being able to use it because of money.
What Should Happen:
The government needs to wake up and:
Give money help for AC units to families who can’t buy them
Make electricity cheaper for AC use during summer months
Subsidize electricity bills for families who need ACs to survive
Make ACs cheaper by removing taxes during summer months
Make cooling places in every area for people without ACs
Stop thinking basic survival things are luxury items
The Hard Truth:
We’re living in different worlds. Some of us run home to our ACs without worrying about bills, while others have to choose between using AC and paying for food.
This isn’t just about feeling uncomfortable. People are dying from heat waves. Kids are getting sick. Families are suffering.
And we’re sitting here acting like having an AC is some special thing instead of seeing it as something every human needs.
To the Government:
Stop focusing on fancy projects and start focusing on keeping people alive. When people can’t survive the weather in their own country because they can’t afford to stay cool, that’s not a luxury problem – that’s your failure.
To Everyone Else:
If you have AC at home and can afford to run it, be thankful. And if you can help someone pay their electricity bill or get an AC, do it.
This heat isn’t going anywhere. It’s only getting worse every year.
What do you think? Should government help people survive or let them suffer because they can’t afford electricity bills?
Share this if you think people should be able to survive in their own country.
